Full Description

Gobustan

This Archeological monument is located in Azerbaijan, 56 km from the capital city, Baku. The artifacts and rock carvings were discovered in 1939 – 1940 years. As a result of the researchers, more than 3,500 human and animal paintings and various markings – petroglyphs were recorded and 20 suburban shelters have been identified in this place. Mesolith monuments (medieval stone) are mostly exhibited in the reserve. There are many caves, springs, carved by primitive men on walls of caves, rocks, and stony lumps.

According to the number of mud volcanoes, Azerbaijan takes first place in the world. Approximately 350 of 800 existing mud volcanoes are found in Azerbaijan. Most of them are concentrated in the Gobustan Region. You will be able to see it very close and climb to the very crater of mud volcanoes and watch the gurgling liquid clay.  Beautiful scenery will make you feel like you are on the Mars planet (The scientists made such analogy because the surface in the Gobustan is very similar to the surface of the Mars) and the constant mud gurgle creates a sensation of an unearthly surface.

Kichik dash reserve

Jeep tour of the territory of the reserve Kichik dash. You will get to another planet — a mystical place, on the territory of which more than 2 thousand megaliths (huge boulders of stones) of different sizes are scattered. Some of them formed caves and grottoes, where primitive people formed their first Parking. A large number of rock paintings and ancient inscriptions locates there. You will have a unique opportunity to climb the mountain itself (176 m) by jeeps and observe the beautiful scenery of the Caspian sea and the Gobustan highlands. At the top of the mountain you will witness the destruction of rocks, which last for about 10 thousand years.

Active mud volcanoes of Dashgil group

To the East of the Gobustan Museum there is a group of active Dashgil volcanoes. You can visit and get close to the crater of mud volcanoes and watch the gurgling of liquid clay. Lovely landscape, if you are on the planet Mars (the scientists drew an analogy and the surface in the area of Gobustan is very similar to the surface of the planet Mars) and the constant gurgling mud creates a sense of unearthly surface.
